Celebrating Women in Sales Month: 36 Sales Leaders You Should Know About

This post is brought to you by Sendoso Director of Sales Development Andrea Lydon.

My first job after college was in door-to-door sales. Most weeks, I’d canvas hundreds of businesses, sparking conversations with CEOs and collecting their business cards as I went.

Almost immediately, I knew this was the profession for me.

But like many women in sales, I’ve become accustomed to being one of the only female voices in the room. That’s why I wasn’t shocked to learn that women occupy less than one third of B2B sales jobs.

While that might be disheartening, we cannot change a problem that we don’t know exists.

So how do we eliminate the obstacles prohibiting women from entering the sales profession? An important first step is to amplify the female voices of our colleagues and industry peers because like Marian Wright Edelman once said, “you can’t be what you can’t see.”

I’m extremely passionate about getting more women involved in sales because I truly believe that engaging, creative, and unique salespeople come from all walks of life.

And guess what? Our buyers don’t fit one mold either.

October is National Women in Sales Month and we’re celebrating by recognizing 36 incredible female sales professionals (in no particular order) who are breaking down barriers and paving the way for future saleswomen. So without further ado…

Selling Sales to Women

I’m often asked how we can empower more women to embark on a career in sales. My response is always the same: Be your true, authentic self; find a mentor; and be mentored. That means trusting your instincts, learning from rejection, raising your hand, and applying to jobs—even when you don’t think you meet all of the qualifications.

As Sheryl Sandberg says in her book Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead, “Women need to shift from thinking ‘I’m not ready to do that’ to thinking ‘I want to do that—and I’ll learn by doing it.’”

Take it from a gal who started her career in door-to-door sales: You can achieve anything you set your mind to. Happy Women in Sales month!

At Sendoso, we’re continuously challenging the perception of what it means to be a sales professional hiring salespeople with a variety of life experiences and perspectives. If you’re ready to seize tremendous opportunity, take ownership, and do meaningful work that moves the needle, check out our open positions.
