In honor of Earth Day, this behind the sends piece shares how we’re working to make direct mail sustainable for businesses and planet earth.

At Sendoso, we strive to be passionate. Agile. Fearless. One team.  And most importantly, human. These are our core values. They define who we are and how we go about serving our purpose. We believe in living by these values inside and outside the workplace, which is why wanted to share how Sendoso’s passion for connecting people on a human level goes beyond business relationships.

We’re proud to announce that we’ve teamed up with Conscious Impact to support their Himalayan Tree Planting Project, an organization that collaborates with farmers in the Himalayas of Nepal to plant more than 10,000 trees per year.

Conscious Impact, a sustainable rural development non-profit based in Nepal, collaborates with a local village to make a positive, conscious impact on global development. Through skilled and unskilled labor, financial donations, and compassionate service to the local community, their mission is to “connect people to themselves, each other and the earth through community service around the world.”

Planting Trees to Make Direct Mail Sustainable

Our customers use our platform to connect with customers and prospects on a human level using direct mail, so a key part of Sendoso’s mission is making this form of communication sustainable for the environment. We know that many of the things our customers send with our solution use paper. That’s why we’re committed to replenishing trees across the globe and only using responsibly harvested paper.

Conscious Impact works with farmers throughout the Himalayas to plant more than 10,000 trees every year. Through this work, they are able to restore the sensitive Himalayan mountain ecosystem, heal soil and prevent erosion, improve local air quality and mitigate climate change by sequestering carbon.

A majority of the trees that Conscious Impact plants are coffee trees—more than 6,000 a year, to be exact. This is because coffee generates revenues for local farmers, encourages natural and organic farming practices, integrates well with other species and tastes delicious!

Sendoso also makes sure that all paper used for direct mail is Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certified. By sourcing SFI-certified products, we are supporting sustainable forestry practices that cause no harm to ecosystems by sourcing SFI-certified products.

Partnering With Sustainable Swag Vendors

Partnering with vendors that offer sustainable products allows us and our customers to remain environmentally conscious, and use eco-friendly items in our outreach. For example, through a partnership with 1% for the Planet, one percent of our vendor Red Promo’s products (like this mug made of wheat straw, or this unique Bluetooth speaker) are donated to nonprofits dedicated to protecting the planet.

Using Digital Direct Mail to Make a Difference

Sendoso’s platform also offers the opportunity to send charity eGift cards instead of physical mail. What better way to celebrate Earth Day with your customers and prospects than with an eGift card that gives back to the community? Here are a few examples of charities we support that help protect the beautiful place we call home:

  • –National Park Foundation: The official charity of the United States’ National Park Service and provides resources for its 418 national park sites.
  • –The Nature Conservancy: The Nature Conservancy’s mission is to “conserve the land and water on which all life depends” by focusing on tackling climate change, providing sustainability, and building healthy cities.
  • –CharityChoice: To use at any charity of their choice!
